Safety Tips

Fire Safety
	Working smoke detectors should be on each floor of your home, including the attic, in addition to one in each bedroom. Trim shrubs and trees and remove dead, dry leaves that could catch fire. Store combustible items away from your home. Keep candles away from curtains. Regularly cut down candle wicks. Do not let candles burn unattended. Have a fire escape route planed and practice fire drills with children. Stickers are available to notify firefighters of children, elderly, and even pets that may be at risk in your home.

Home and Personal Safety
	Maintain proper exterior lighting. Make sure exterior lights allow you to get from your vehicle, to the entry of your home. Keep all windows and doors locked even when you are home. Do not give house keys. Digital code or code word to temporary workers. Do not leave valuables in sight through windows. Join a neighborhood watch if available in your community.
